DUMBARTON’S development team lost 3-1 against Greenock Morton at Cappielow last night.
It was a close encounter at the tail of the bank in a game that was full of drama.
Morton took an early lead through Jon Scullion with a good strike that had Jamie Ewings well beaten, but Sons had an early chance to equalise but Jordan Kirkpatrick’s penalty was saved.
Ahead of the half-time break, Morton doubled their lead through Quitingo and could have made it three but Scullion’s edge of the box shot hit the crossbar.
Sons did get on the scoresheet when Trialist Steve Saunders bulleted home a close range header.
Ewings then did well to parry a shot from Morton’s Tiffoney but the rebound was smashed home by McWaters to close out the game for the Greenock team.
