20S LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

Thursday 14th May 2015

COACH Mark Spalding along with head of youth Richie Salveta have decided on the future shape of the Sons 20s team, with a number of players leaving the club.

Kjeld McIntyre, Callum Smith and Jack Anderson have all been released and goalie Josh Lumsden has decided to move on.

Speaking to Mark, from his holiday base in Portugal, the 20s coach said: “With all decisions regarding the player, we took in consideration the monthly reviews we do on each players development.

“With that in mind we retained many of last season’s squad which was in one of the youngest in the year.

“Unfortunately for those players leaving, it is one door closed but many will open.

“They will develop further by increased playing time and new experiences that a change of club can give them.

Kjeld, Callum, Jack and Josh all go with the best wishes from all at Dumbarton FC. We sincerely thank them for their efforts whilst being at the club.

“Their attitude and application has been second to none, but due to the nature of football it was decided best for both parties that they move on.”

Players who have re-signed include – Andy Biddulph, Ryan Clark, Glenn Eadie, Mikey Hopkins, Daniel Lightbody, Coll McCallum, Chris Martin, Keir Whitefield.

In other news, physio Chris Horan, who joined up at the Sons last summer has called time on his DFC career and is returning home to Ireland for family reasons.

Best wishes go to Chris from all at Dumbarton FC.
