150TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

Saturday 29th January 2022

AS you will no doubt have heard, Dumbarton FC will celebrate their 150th Anniversary in December 2022.

The DFC150 committee has been working behind the scenes planning a number of ways to mark this momentous event, with the period of celebration beginning in May 2022 and ending in April 2023.

We are now in a position to announce plans although in some instances specific dates are still to be confirmed.

Club badge
The playing kit for season 2022/23 will carry a special badge amended to mark the occasion. Other merchandising will carry the same badge but without the two stars.

71/72 dinner
The year will commence on Saturday, May 14 with a dinner together with guest speaker to honour the 1971/72 team who won the Second Division championship in style and took Dumbarton into Scotland’s top division for the first time in 50 years.

Merchandise
A range of merchandise will be available with a concerted effort being made to have the full range available on or before July 1. We hope to be in a position to take orders in the near future.

The playing kit has been approved by the board and we are awaiting a graphic from the manufacturer which will be available shortly. We will then be in a position to advertise and accept orders for replica kits.

Other items will include:

* A new scarf and hat to compliment the home kit.
* A polo shirt in two different colours.
* Pennants and pin Badges.
* Dumbarton FC whisky.
* An updated club history.
* An A-Z of all the players who have played for Dumbarton.
* A Dumbarton FC factbook. It will include many of the club records over the last 150 years and will also answer many of the questions frequently asked during games such as “When did Dumbarton last ……” or “Who was the last player to…”.
* All three publications have been sent to a printer to begin the process. Provisions have been made to add this season’s record to each of the publications.

Prices for all merchandising will be announced as soon as the orders are in place.

Flagship friendly
The committee are committed to arranging a glamour friendly against opposition with some meaningful connection to the history of Dumbarton. A few possible opponents have been identified and approaches have been made. It is not possible to make announcements yet are there is still some uncertainty in relation to Covid-19 and the fact both Scottish and English league seasons will be impacted by the World Cup in Qatar.

Exhibition
An exhibition has been arranged at Dumbarton Heritage Centre to run from Thursday, October 6 to Saturday, December 17, reflecting all aspects of the history of the club. Discussions with the SFA Museum are ongoing with a view to making some of their archive available for the exhibition.

Hall of Fame
A Dumbarton FC Hall of Fame will be created. A committee has already identified the initial tranche of inductees and these will be announced in stages. Due to the nature of the club history many of the inductees will be inducted posthumously via the website with inductions in person to be conducted at a dinner in April 2023. Specific date not yet available until the 2022/23 fixture list has been announced. This will be the last event of the year long celebrations.
